Customer training day on 21st Novembere 2024

The training day will probably take place in Bern again. We will inform you in good time.

Customer training day on 23rd Novembere 2023

The day passed far too quickly. In addition to the fact that customers were able to exchange ideas and network with each other, there were various highlights, which mainly consisted of testimonials and presentations from our customers:

  • “Communication between dispatcher and train driver” as an exercise on the simulator with a live demonstration, presented by Laurent Schüpbach from RhB
  • LOCSIM in conjunction with interlocking simulation, presented by Danilo Herold, former student at the Technical University of Central Hesse, who had this as the subject of his degree dissertation
  • Presentation on the “Dynamic Railway System Model DESM” in Boltigen by Jürg Suter, President of the DESM Association
  • Presentation of the Historical S-Bahn Simulator in Berlin, presented by Christian Schulz
  • Simulator application for the ETCS training courses of the Graz-Köflach railway, presented by Karl-Heinz Grubelnik

On the LOCSIM side, we presented a host of innovations and also unveiled a recently completed simulator with three screens. This can be set up free-standing or on a table.

The announcement that we will be offering public and railway company-specific simulator training courses next year was also met with great interest.

And here’s a note for 2024: the training day will take place on 21 November 2024.

Below you will find the presentations and a few photographic impressions of the day.

Customer training day 2022 at Bern

The event took place on 10th november 2022 in the 7 generations building at Bern.

In addition to the LOCSIM News, our customers also had their say with presentations and demonstrations on our tabletop simulator. In addition, we brought another prototype tabletop simulator, which aroused great interest. A few impressions and the presentations in German and French can be found here:

Customer Information Day 2021 at Bern

The training event was held in Bern on October 21, after it could not take place the previous year due to Corona.

A lively mix of presentations, trying out the table simulators, training elements and culinary delicacies characterize the day.

Customer Information Day 2019 in Triengen

The new offer of “ETCS simulation on the Tm III” was demonstrated

On November 26, 2019, customers and interested parties from LOCSIM met in Triengen at the Sursee-Triengen-Bahn. The event was led by our new Managing Director Barbara Jörg. She started with LOCSIM in October and officially introduced herself.

The focus of this training day was the new offer “ETCS simulation on the Tm III”. Here, a touchscreen and a measuring box is installed in the vehicle. The touch screen displays the ETCS display and the measuring box detects the speed and other signals of the locomotive. Using detected signals, the virtually replicated line runs synchronously on the LOCSIM computer. If the ETCS simulation detects emergency braking, emergency braking is triggered on the vehicle, depending on whether it is armed or not.

Although there is no ETCS on this route or on the vehicle, the new ETCS offer is available.

We drove in groups for about 2.5 km from Triengen and demonstrated the following possibilities:

  • Train information input
  • Operating modes “Staff responsible”, “Shunting” and “On sight”
  • Simulation of the RBC (Radio Block Center)
  • Activation of emergency braking by driving too fast into the braking curve or the EOA (End of Authority)
  • Interference such as radio failure, signal emergency or “interference redundancy” was simulated.

The list is not exhaustive. During operation, switching between manufacturer types, e.g. Siemens Touch and Alstom is possible.

Advantages over simulation on a “normal” simulator

While training for train drivers are already taking place on the Sursee Triengen Railway, the new offer offers the opportunity to supplement the training with ETCS. Where else can ETCS be trained on a route without disrupting regular operations or taking special precautions? Advantages are:

  • ETCS training on a real track and on a real vehicle
  • no impairment of regular operation

Other news

In addition to the new offer, further news were announced:

  • ZSI 127: Changes to the new release 5.3, which were replicated in LOCSIM
  • Changes in ZUB and new train protection system RFI
  • Multiple-film display, e.g. side cameras
  • Possibility that unfilmed sections, e.g. a track change, in which simulation can be installed
  • and much more
