SIMULATORS WITH ORIGINAL DRIVER’S DESK OR ON THE ORIGINAL VEHICLE

The simulators with original driver’s desk can be versatilely controlled:

The connection to the hardware takes place via PLC. The logic, train protection, view of the track and train dynamic are fully reproduced on the LOCSIM computer
The connection to the hardware takes place with the original control technology and Vehicle Control Unit. The LOCSIM computer provides solely the train protection, view of the track and train dynamic based on the track data. The vehicle logics fully match the one of the original vehicle
The original vehicle is set to run on simulation mode, a screen is installed in the driver’s cab and the LOCSIM computer is connected to the Vehicle Control Unit. The LOCSIM computer displays solely the train protection, view of the track and train dynamic based on the track data. The operations of the train driver are fully matching the ones of the original vehicle

ORIGINAL DRIVER’S DESK WITH VEHICLE LOGICS REPRODUCED ON THE LOCSIM COMPUTER

On simulators with an original drivers desk, and for which the vehicle logics and train dynamics are calculated on the LOCSIM computer, the hardware components are connected via PLC to the computer.

Depending on the type of hardware components, we can offer various options. Some of the special connections are listed here:

By pneumatic devices such as manometer or driver’s brake valve, we place a pressure regulator and pressure sensors
By speedometers fed from a three-phase current, such as Hasler, we place an electronic plate developed specifically for this purpose, with which the tachometer can be controlled
The original-train protections-terminal devices ZUB, ZSI127 and ZSL90 can be directly controlled

The non-existent hardware devices can be displayed on a touchscreen

ORIGINAL DRIVER’S DESK WITH ORIGINAL VEHICLE-CONTROL-UNIT

On simulators with an original driver’s desk, original control technology and Original Vehicle-Control-Unit, the LOCSIM computer calculates the train protection, view of the track and driving dynamics. A second computer simulates the vehicle components which are missing but necessary for the Vehicle-Control-Unit.

SIMULATOR ON THE ORIGINAL VEHICLE

LOCSIM can also be used on the original vehicle. Such as the BLS Ae 4/4 with a parallel train bus or by new vehicle with a Vehicle-Control-Unit (VCU). For vehicle with a VCU, the vehicle is set on simulation mode. The operations of the train drivers are totally equal to the ones of the original vehicle.

The current supply for the vehicle is generally supplied from the depot. The drivers cab is darkened, a screen for the view of the line is installed and the instructor sits in the passenger compartment, from where he can control the simulation.

There is an interesting option when a vehicle new, since the simulation mode can be installed right into the VCU software. This can only be done if a collaboration with the vehicle manufacturer is possible.
